Motorola Razr 2022 and X30: the announcement has been postponed (but only slightly)

Small turbulence for the new products of the Motorola brand, a subsidiary since 2014 of the manufacturer Lenovo. The Razr 2022 and X30, which were supposed to debut on August 2, won’t be unveiled until later in China.

No summer break in the field of telephony. The announcements are linked, at OnePlus for example, whose 10T was formalized on August 3. As for August 10, this is the date planned by Samsung to conduct its usual Unpacked event, now dedicated to its folding smartphones. Another actor had planned to be heard at the beginning of the month: Motorola, for the formalization of two smartphones. Indeed, the Razr 2022, model with a folding screen in clamshell format, but also the X30 Pro, flagship of the brand, were to be presented on August 2.

Lenovo’s general manager, Chen Jin, contented himself with a succinct message on Chinese social networks, a few hours before the event, to announce the cancellation. “I am sorry to inform you that the Motorola new product launch scheduled for 7:30 tonight has been canceled due to certain reasons”he said, without specifying further whether this decision was due to the current political context or technical concerns.

The announcement of the Razr 2022 and the X30 is only postponed, however. Their presentation date remains to be confirmed – a visual published by Chen Jin on Thursday August 4 shows a Razer on which the date of Thursday the 11th appears – and, in the meantime, at least one retailer (JD.com) has already listed the device. . On the latter’s page, we learn very little, Motorola having already confirmed the integration of a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 chip, but also a new hinge and a double photo module. JD’s page, however, confirms that three versions of the mobile are to be expected: 8/128 GB, 8/256 GB and 12/512 GB. A multi-window mode, with the possibility of using the smartphone when it is half open , is also on the menu.

Recall that the announcement of the Razr 2022 and X30 is planned for China first. There is no doubt, however, that the devices will appear a little later on the European market.
