The week of folding smartphones continues with the Motorola Razr 2022, formalized on August 11 in China, the day after the presentation of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 by Samsung.
The third iteration of Motorola’s folding screen smartphone relies on a premium technical sheet. Like the Galaxy Z Flip 4, it is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, flanked by 8 to 12 GB of RAM depending on the version, and 128 to 512 GB of storage. The device shares its 6.7-inch Oled screen with its Korean competitor, and benefits – like a growing number of Motorola smartphones – from a refresh rate increased to 144 Hz. This panel is associated with a hinge that promises to hide the fold almost entirely when the terminal is closed.
A more substantial battery and an improved photo block
Motorola has renewed the design of its previous Razr. We notice in particular the disappearance of the “chin” located under the screen, which characterized these devices. The newcomer’s exterior screen retains its 2.7-inch diagonal, but overlooks a revised photo block, which replaces the single 48MP sensor present on the Razr 2020. It includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with wide optics. -angle, and a second of 13 megapixels, with an ultra wide-angle. Inside the smartphone, nestled in a punch, a 32-megapixel sensor is dedicated to selfies. On the battery side, it seems that Motorola has opted for a 3500 mAh accumulator, slightly smaller than that of the Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Razr 2020, however, was satisfied with 2800 mAh.
Finally, we note that the Razr 2022 is announced under Android 12 accompanied by the MyUI 4.0 interface, which includes various customization options dedicated to its exterior screen. The smartphone is currently announced in China for 5999 yuan (860 € excluding taxes) in the 8 / 128 GB version, 6499 yuan (935 €) in 8 / 256 GB and 7299 yuan (1050 €) in 12 / 512 GB. Motorola will undoubtedly organize, we hope so, a later event in Europe to detail its characteristics and its price of release on the Old Continent.
