Motorola: soon a 3rd generation Razr, a rollable smartphone in the boxes?

In addition to classic-shaped smartphones, Motorola is planning a folding model for 2022. In any case, this is what Evan Blass reports, leaker as famous as it is prolific. According to him, the firm under the bosom of Lenovo should launch a third version of its Razr, as well as a model with a roll-up screen, similar to what Oppo was able to offer with the X. A completely redesigned Razr 3?

From an aesthetic point of view, Motorola would make a break with the past and the very first model dating back to the 2000s to adopt a more contemporary look, combining more square lines and rounded angles like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 for example. . On images shared by Evan Blass on 91mobiles, we can see that the external screen called “Quick View” is called to occupy much more surface than on the Razr 2020. What to display even more information and offer better use , for example to respond more easily to messages or emails. The fingerprint reader would become much more accessible. Placed on the first Razr chin of the name and on the back of its successor, it would finally be housed in the unlock button of this third version. Inside, the notch should finally disappear and give way to a punch with a 32-megapixel sensor. An evolution that would allow the smartphone to offer a much larger display area than the Razr 5G of 2020. The Oled screen would offer FHD + definition, still in the 22:9 ratio which is the charm of this mobile. Finally, the device would integrate a high-end chip. According to Evan Blass, the firm is not yet certain to place a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or its evolution 8 Gen 1+, but the chip would be coupled with 8 or 12 GB of RAM with 256 or 512 GB of storage.

The first units would go on sale during the summer on the Asian market, before a global release. As for the price, it should be expected that the latter will not drop as drastically as was the case with the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Motorola could maintain a premium price placement.

Felix, a roll-up approaching

The Razr 2022 wouldn’t be the only futuristic smartphone in Motorola’s catalog. Following in the footsteps of Oppo or LG, the company was working on a model whose screen would be rollable. A smartphone nicknamed “Felix”, according to Evan Blass, and whose design would be in its infancy. While it is unlikely to be released this year, it seems plausible that the smartphone will debut in 2023.
