Motorway companies will have to “contribute financially to the ecological transition”, assures in an interview published Friday in Le Monde the Minister of Transport Clément Beaune, who also mentions a future “public work” on the model of concessions.

It also calls on companies in the short term to use their margins to invest more in the ecological transition (electrical terminals in all areas, carpool parking lots, etc.).
The pages of French motorway networks have increased since February 1. The increase, which averages 4.75%, was higher than in previous years.
Concerning the model of concessions which will be expected from 2030, Mr Beaune announces that public work will be launched in the spring with parliamentarians, economists, non-governmental organisations, the motorway companies themselves, on the future of concessions.

In January, the Transport Regulatory Authority proposed to the State to favor shorter contracts between motorway companies and the State, to give the latter greater leeway, while the main concessions, in particular Vinci, Eiffage and Sanef will expire between 2031 and 2036.
