A great sports fan, he likes to know what is hidden in the lives of athletes, but does not neglect film or singing stars. After a long journey in the Canadian far north, he returned more determined than ever to see what was going on among the people of France and elsewhere.

A mythical monument of Paris and a place where tourists converge in the capital, the Moulin Rouge has lost its wings. A real blow for the famous establishment, but fortunately, more fear than harm given the circumstances.

If we had to name the iconic places of a city which has many, the Moulin Rouge would certainly come among the very first when we talk about Paris. With the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, the famous establishment which symbolizes Montmartre and the French party, is a place of passage for the millions of tourists who come to Paris each year. If you gather inside to enjoy the cabaret shows offered by this place founded in 1889, the exterior facade is also very popular and makes it a landmark on the long boulevard de Clichy, in the 18th arrondissement of the capital.

Unfortunately, the Moulin Rouge lost part of itself during the night from Wednesday to Thursday April 25. Without really knowing how, the wings of the mill came loose around 2 a.m.. Miraculously, no one was hit or injured when the metal structure fell more than 10 meters, which also took away the first three letters of the sign, “MOU”. According to information from Parisian this morning, despite this incident, the building is not threatened with collapse and the area has been secured.

A symbol of Paris which is collapsing

More fear than harm therefore, but this very sad story has marked the inhabitants of the neighborhood and the lovers of the Moulin Rouge. “It is a symbol of Montmartre, of Paris and of the world which has just collapsed. We could laugh about it because it is only material and the wings are made to fly, but it is extremely shocking. We avoided the worst.”indicates the vice-president of the Lepic Abbesses merchants association, Stéphane Cachelin, at Parisian. For André Duval, who was the establishment’s maître d’hôtel in the 1980s and a resident of the neighborhood for 50 years, the circumstances of this collapse leave him perplexed: It’s still very strangethere was no storm last night, I hope that we will soon find out what happened and that cameras were able to capture the scene.”

An incident all the more incomprehensible as the wing mechanism is checked once a week, as BFMTV clarified this Thursday morning. A first for the Moulin Rouge, which has never lost its wings in more than 130 years of existence, but a fire occurred in 2915, leading to its closure for nine years.
