Great start to the new World Cup season for Swiss mountain bikers!
In the women’s category, Linda Indergand in Albstadt in the south of Baden-Württemberg does more than just win, it leads to the start of the last of six laps on the short track. The Uri had to admit defeat to the French Pauline Ferrand Prevot shortly before the finish – in the end Indergand was only one second apart from first place. She finished second.
The other Swiss women: Sina Frei finished eighth, 10 seconds behind, followed by Jolanda Neff in 13th (+0: 22) and Ramona Forchini in 14th (+0: 26). Nicole Koller (25th, +0: 46) and Alessandra Keller (27th, +0: 51) cannot keep up.
Schurter also on the podium
Nino Schurter is the best Swiss for men. The 34-year-old from Graubünden steps onto the podium and is three seconds behind Mathieu van der Poel from Holland and the French Victor Koretzky.
The remaining Swiss are classified as follows: 5. Mathias Flückiger +0: 10, 12. Lars Forster +0: 17, 29. Reto Indergand +0: 46, 30. Thomas Litscher +0: 50, 33. Matthias Stirnemann +1 : 12, 37. Andri Frischkneckt (lapped). Filippo Colombo cannot finish the race.
On Saturday the women’s cross-country race will take place in Albstadt (11.00 a.m.), on Sunday it’s the men’s turn (2.15 p.m.). (leo)
