Mountain rescuers moved out – Americans (21) rescued from Untersberg

On Tuesday, the mountain rescue team had to be called out on the Untersberg for the third time in a very short space of time: Once again, a hiker had to be rescued who was unable to continue due to the wintry conditions.

An American could not go any further on the Dopplersteig at an altitude of almost 1260 meters. He made an emergency call. “Three of our mountain rescuers were flown to the ill-equipped man by the police helicopter team. He had refused a dew rescue by the police for cost reasons,” says Manfred Haas, the local manager of Grödig. The mountain rescue team brought him safely to the valley.
