The actor and comedian Art Metrano, who was best known for the “Police Academy” series, has died.

The American comedian and actor Art Metrano (1936-2021) is dead. He died shortly before his 85th birthday at his home in Aventura, Florida. Harry Metrano, the actor’s son, has that, the industry journal “The Hollywood Reporter” confirmed.

Metrano was born in Brooklyn and has appeared in numerous TV and film productions since the early 1960s. In Germany he is probably best known for his role as Lieutenant or Commandant Mauser in “Police Academy 2 – Now it’s just getting started” and “Police Academy 3 – … and nobody can stop it”.

His son always saw him “as indestructible”

The actor was paraplegic after falling from a ladder in 1989. “He was at the height of his career when that happened,” explains his son. Then everything stopped at once, but Metrano overcame all adversities and continued to enjoy his life. The actor continued to appear in smaller roles until the early 2000s.

Even Harry Metrano spoke up on Instagram. With a heavy heart he had to write that on September 8th he lost “my best friend, my mentor, my father”. Art Metrano has fought so hard in the past few decades “that I have always seen him as indestructible”. The sad truth is that you don’t live forever on earth, but that a person’s spirit can always live on in you. When someone invented the saying “Legends never die”, that person certainly thought of his father. “I love and miss you so much,” explains Harry Metrano. His father is now his guardian angel.
