Last night, a whole bunch of independent studios gathered around The Triple-i Initiative to present their projects or updates to the public. Among them, we find Fumi Gamesa Polish studio who already has plans for a certain Galaxi Taxi well inspired by Cuphead And who therefore highlighted his other project called MOUSE. If we had never known about it before, its revelation dates back to May 2023, see the video below which then showed a rendering under development. A video of gameplay had been put online in December, which is clearly worth a look if the short trailer below shown during the presentation caught your attention. Moreover, PlaySide Publishing has signed a partnership in February with the studio to edit MOUSE.
Forget it Doom Slayer, it’s a mouse that we would think came straight out of Steamboat Willie with Mickey that we will embody in this FPS drawing inspiration from 1930s cartoons and the film noir genre. This teaser titled Spike-D also highlights another influence that will speak to the oldest among us, this dear sailor Popeyesince by eating spinach our character will also gain strength to fight with his bare handsnot to mention the exact repeating of the shape of the forearms with the marine ink tattoo.
The trailer also introduces two other elements of gameplayto know a grappling hook allowing you to move quickly by fixing it at points provided for this purpose and the helicopter used to reduce the speed of fall and facilitate air travel.
MOUSE has a unique visual style inspired by the charm of 1930s rubber hose animation, transporting players to a nostalgic era of early cartoons. Play as a private detective navigating a noir town teeming with gangs, underworld members, and dark side figures. Solve a quest for justice in a dark city mired in chaos, corruption and vibrant energy, using a diverse arsenal of weapons, power-ups and explosives to thwart the takeover of power by corrupt politicians. The game’s playful weaponry and distinctive health display, combined with enemies that behave like cartoon characters, add a light touch to traditional FPS gameplay.
