Move done – new DM headquarters: There are no fixed offices here

Start of construction in April 2021, move in autumn 2022: Almost 550 employees of the drugstore giant have moved to the new DM headquarters in Wals-Himmelreich.

A rehearsal room for musicians, yoga relaxation rooms, six cafes and a hairdressing salon. It sounds like the list in a travel brochure for luxury hotels – but all these things are in the new headquarters of the drugstore chain DM in Wals-Himmelreich. Officially, the new DM realm is called “Dialogicum”. Those responsible created this name with a Swiss philosopher. “It should be a place of dialogue and encounter – far more than a headquarters,” says Managing Director Thomas Köck. 96 meeting rooms and no permanent offices Almost 550 employees are now working on two floors in the building on the former Baumax site. The central point of the “Dialogicum” is a spacious reception hall, including a museum on the company’s history. From there it goes directly to the 96 meeting rooms and to the workplaces. All employees do not have assigned offices and desks. “Flexible and open” is the motto. Appropriate: apart from the toilets and meeting rooms, there are no doors in the new headquarters. “That was our premise,” says project manager Andrea Renezeder. However, the fire protection regulations made some additional doors necessary. DM invested almost 2.5 million euros in the new headquarters. Construction started in April 2021. Around 9000 square meters are now available. There are also spacious terraces, balconies and an inner courtyard. From next year, the “Dialogicum” will be heated with a heat pump. Building belongs to Wiener Städtische The building is rented out by Wiener Städtische Versicherung – as was the case at the old location on Munich’s federal highway. “We didn’t have to build anything new, we still have the same landlord – a win-win situation,” says Managing Director Köck.
