MSI announces laptops that will be equipped with Intel HX series processors that can reach 5 GHz. The Titan GT77 and its mechanical keyboard are the spearhead of the range, while the Raider GE77HX has a 240 Hz Oled panel.

MSI has just announced a series of portable PCs that will be equipped with Intel’s HX processors with 16 physical cores capable of reaching 5 GHz. All these models allow the processor and the graphics card to share 250 W of power in order to express themselves, Nvidia’s Dynamic Boost technology being at work.

Titan GT77, the beast

With not far from 3.3 kg and accompanied by its 330 W charger, the Titan GT77 is almost one of the most powerful PCs of the moment. And who says non-standard chassis, says non-standard components: thus, MSI integrates Intel’s Core i9-12900HX with its 16 physical cores reaching 5 GHz in boost. It shares a 250W thermal envelope with Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti, while Asus limits itself to 240W on its ROG Scar 17 SE. MSI takes full advantage of the platform offered by Intel by including four DDR5 slots, in order to reach 128 GB of RAM, and four M.2 slots, including one supporting the PCIe Gen5 standard.

The rest of the configuration is of the same ilk, since a Steelseries mechanical keyboard with per-key backlighting is used. The connection is the best with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, three USB3.2 Gen 2 ports, a 2.5G Ethernet port, an HDMI 2.1 port and 6E wifi. The screen is also up to par, with its IPS panel displaying 3840 x 2160 pixels at 120 Hz. As long as it goes, MSI could have gone so far as to offer an Oled panel.

A more sober model for content creators

MSI also presented the CreatorPro X17, a model that features a Core i9-12900HX, and is equipped with an RTX A5500, the professional version of Nvidia’s graphics cards. Like the Titan, it comes with four DDR5 slots and four M.2 slots, including one PCIe Gen 5.

The 4K IPS panel is calibrated in the factory with a delta E which would be less than 2. If the chassis is identical to that of the Titan GT77, it remains much more sober than its version dedicated to gamers.

Certainly less exclusive than the Titan, the Raider is not left out with two models, the GE77HX in 17.3 inches and the GE67HX in 16 inches. They are more accessible, with only two DDR5 slots and two M.2 PCIe Gen4 slots. Once again, we find the Intel Core i9-12900HX pair and the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti which still share a 250 W envelope. Obviously, less muscular versions will be launched.

MSI has provided Full HD IPS panels at 360 Hz, QHD at 240 Hz and UHD at 120 Hz, but the Taiwanese manufacturer also offers an Oled QHD panel (2560 x 1440 pixels) at 240 Hz as an option.

The Titan GT77 and Raider GE77HX/GE67HX are expected for the end of June starting at $2,500 for the Raider and €3,200 for the Titan.
