MTV Europe Music Awards 2020: BTS clears four trophies

BTS were nominated five times and won four prizes at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Among other things, they won as "Best Group".

BTS are the big winners of the MTV Europe Music Awards 2020. The South Korean boy band won four trophies at the awards ceremony, which was held virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. BTS were nominated five times. The winners also included Cardi B ("Best Hip-Hop"), Lady Gaga ("Best Artist") and Coldplay ("Best Rock"). The artists and bands thanked their fans with pre-recorded videos.

BTS were once again able to accept the award for "Best Group" and in their acceptance speech they promised: "We will continue to work hard to be a group that touches people's hearts and can give them hope through music." The band also won in the categories of "Best Song" ("Dynamite"), "Best Virtual Live Performance" ("Bang Bang Con – The Live") and "Biggest Fans".

Appearances by many stars

Members of the girl band Little Mix hosted the event, which was filmed in various locations, including London and Budapest. The group also performed their new single "Sweet Melody". Other appearances included Alicia Keys, Sam Smith, Bebe Rexha, Rita Ora and DJ Khaled, who won the "Best Video" category.
