BYD is the largest electric car manufacturer in China and is known for very inexpensive electric cars, some of which are also available in Germany. Now the company has presented a potential counterpart to the Tesla Model Y – one of the world’s best-selling electric cars. And with the BYD Yuan UP, the Chinese company even has another extremely affordable electric car up its sleeve!
But first to the BYD Song L. The model celebrated its premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show in April and aims to match the sales success of the Model Y. The group has now scheduled the start of sales for mid-December.
Already more than 11,000 pre-orders for BYD Song L
Anyone interested has been able to pre-order the car since October 31st and, according to BYD, more than 11,000 pre-orders have already taken place. The number is considerable given the short period of time.
The great interest in the electric SUV may also be due to the pricing. In its home country of China, the SUV costs the equivalent of between 28,000 and 36,000 euros, depending on the equipment.
The car has 230 kW (single motor) or 380 kW (dual motor) peak power. BYD has not yet provided any information about the top speed, but has provided information about the range according to the Chinese CLTC standard.
