According to a survey of 60 million consumers, published this Thursday, diaper manufacturers would be more vigilant about the composition of diapers. Nevertheless, there is still room for improvement.

The composition of baby diapers is constantly studied under a magnifying glass by experts. Chemical substances, allergens, contaminants, diaper manufacturers are very regularly checked, even sanctioned. As in 2017, when the association sounded the alarm on the presence of controversial substances in diapers.

In a new report, 60 million consumers made a new exchange comparison, based on eight diaper references, from “green” models from Pampers, to the Marque Repère, via those of Love & Green. The association welcomes the efforts of diaper manufacturers who have made progress in eliminating unwanted substances in compositions but also in the labeling of packaging. "Improvements are noticeable, both in composition and labeling".
Nevertheless, there is still room for improvement.

Healthy baby diapers

So, for the association, the diaper manufacturers have kept their promises. Indeed, "None of the contaminants of greatest concern, suspected of being carcinogenic or endocrine disrupting" was not found. "Only Pampers Baby-Dry have a lotion, based on petroleum jelly", says the survey.
Thus, the association notes improvements to be made, as for the Pampers Harmonie diapers, which contain traces of aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA) and certain organic compounds under the name of halogensabsorbable (AOX). These substances, potentially irritating to baby's skin, were also present in Pampers Baby-Dry, Lupilu (Lidl) and Carrefour Baby Ultra Dry diapers.

Overall, 60 million consumers indicate that "Absorption is more often satisfactory than protection against humidity". On the podium for the best diapers, we find the brand Love & Green as well as Lillywood, followed by "Mots en enfants". The best value for money goes to the Repères brand of E.Leclerc, with healthy diapers at 30 cents each.
