Muhr is back – with a good mix in the future of tennis

Barbara Muhr was re-elected as President of the Styrian Tennis Association tonight in Graz. After a break of almost two years, the 54-year-old is brimming with energy. Rudolf Steiner, who had managed the business on an interim basis for the past two years, was appointed Honorary President.

She was never really gone – as of tonight, Barbara Muhr is officially back! The 54-year-old, who had retired from office in April 2020, was re-elected President at the General Assembly of the Styrian Tennis Association in Graz (predecessor Rudolf Steiner was appointed Honorary President). Muhr, who landed new sponsors for the association, is bursting with energy with her new team (“A good mix of a lot of experience and young people”), wants the white-green association – which has been one of the most innovative in Austria for years anyway – bring them further forward. The program master plan 2025/30: A new concept for young talent is to accompany talented people on their way to becoming professionals. The successful projects “Ready Schett Go” and “NextGenDomi” are being extended. The state performance center – currently in Leibnitz – is to move to Graz.Reforms: Team championships and tournament scene are being reorganized. A new differentiation between mass sport and competitive sport is tackled. Other focal points: the expansion of digitization, more intensive marketing and sponsoring activities and a communication offensive are launched.
