Mulder and Scully: "The X-Files" singing for a good cause

The slightly different "X-Files" reunion: almost the entire cast of the popular mystery series sings on YouTube for a good cause and against Corona.

The assembled "X-Files" cast and some of the heads behind the camera have started a fundraising campaign against Corona that is almost as mysterious as the hit series itself. The reunion for a good cause is an uncanny encounter of the musical kind that can be admired on YouTube under the title "Song In The Key of X – The X-Files".

After an intro with a wobbly camera look, serial star David Duchovny (60), aka Agent Fox Mulder, suddenly welcomes his colleagues from yesteryear. Their joint task: to sing the famous theme song of the series a-cappella and even to add a text. No sooner said than done … and countless windows pop up in which the stars of "The X-Files" whistle, hum and warble the well-known melody from the intro.

They are all there, from Mitch Pileggi (68, FBI chief Walter Skinner) to Nicholas Lea (58, agent Alex Krycek) and Robert Patrick (61, agent John Doggett) to Cary Elwes (57, director Brad Follmer). Even the notorious "Cancer Candidate", played by William Bruce Davis (82), is busy singing along. Like "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan (53), who worked as a screenwriter, producer and director for "The X-Files". The newly written lyrics include: "Profound conspiracies. Unsolved mysteries. Creepy UFOs. Cases that have been filed. Fight if you dare. The truth is still out there."

Somebody is missing!

A total of 33 participants in the series, which was broadcast from 1993 to 2002, produced two movies and made its comeback with two other seasons from 2016, took part in the campaign. The aim of the project is "to conjure up a smile and to raise money for 'World Central Kitchen'", says the description. The charity has set itself the task of providing food to people who are facing particularly hard times due to the corona pandemic.

But stop. Somebody is missing from the reunion! Where's Gillian Anderson (52)? She cannot be seen during the vocal interludes of her former TV colleagues and only joins in when the whole haunt is over. Amazed, she asks: "Wait a minute. What are we doing here?" The otherwise meticulous agent Dana Scully apparently didn't read the memo.
