Mulliner Batur – 12-cylinder Bentley shows electric future

That must be this famous British humor: With its most powerful twelve-cylinder model to date, the luxury brand Bentley is showing how it envisions the electric future.

The twelve-cylinder coupé Mulliner Batur now being presented as part of the Monterey Car Week features conventional Continental technology under a newly tailored body shell and will only be built 18 times. In addition to its role as a collector’s item, it should also test how the future British design line is received. From 2025 they will officially carry the luxury brand’s announced e-mobiles. First of all, the VW subsidiary will remain loyal to the W12 petrol engine. This is used in the exclusive newcomer in the most powerful and possibly final expansion stage with 740 hp and 1000 Nm. Bentley has built an elegant and massive body around the six-liter engine, in which the large radiator grille remains, but is now closed off at the top by a thin chrome strip. The rear with its thin horizontal LED strips instead of the classic vertical lights is also new. Overall, as is usual in this vehicle segment, Bentley has dispensed with a design revolution in favor of classic lines. However, some elements should be found in the brand’s first electric cars in the middle of the decade. It is not yet known which model the British will start with. If you want to buy the conventionally powered harbinger, you not only have to be fast, but also have 1.65 million British pounds (almost 2 million euros) plus special equipment, tax and NoVA available.
