MultiVersus more expensive than Smash Bros? Check out the mind-boggling price of all content

With MultiVersus, Warner will try to walk on the flowerbeds of Smash Bros. And to do this, the publisher will play the card of the economic model of free to play. Something quite rare for a fighting game of this type, and which, one suspects, has its good and bad sides. The good news is that everyone will be able to try MultiVersus, with 100% free to play no less than five characters (out of 16 in all).

The bad news is that to unlock all of the content (characters and cosmetics), you’ll have to take out the credit card. And according to VGCthis one could well heat up quite quickly, since the entire content of the game via the store costs no less than 250 euros. To compare, Smash Bros and its two battle passes cost 125 euros.

Not cheap, the famous Gleamiums

As said above, only 5 very specific characters will be able to be obtained directly once the game has been acquired. For the others, you will have to farm hard, or go through the famous shop in Gleamiums. And this is where real money comes into the equation, because 6000 Gleamiums cost no less than 50 euros.

And to buy the other Multiversus characters without necessarily spending dozens of hours on them, you will need to have Gleamiums. Warner’s in-game meta isn’t set yet, but if ever the “paying” characters are much more powerful than the 5 that are purely free to play, there’s likely to be some unrest within the community.

Nothing maddening for a f2p?

The calculation of VGC is however a little bold, because it takes into account the purchase of cosmetics, which have no link with the effectiveness in combat. At this rate, League of Legends “complete” would cost tens of thousands of euros, except that having all the cosmetics of the game does not really make sense. De facto, acquisition of all characters (excluding skins) of MultiVersus costs 70 dollars. It’s far from outrageous, even if this amount will already make Smash aficionados cringe, whose line up is more solid.

Want to form the best possible duo on MultiVersus, Warner’s Smash Bros? So here are the characters and heroes of the franchise that you will have to line up in this new fighting game. A third list to consider absolutely before embarking on purchases.
