Munich Festival 2020: "Summer in the City" – where things are now going well

OB Reiter: "A little more cheerfulness deserves"

"I think that we have earned a bit more happiness in this city again," said Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) on Friday at the opening of the "Summer in the City" program, which was launched at high speed.

It should support showmen, market clerks and creative artists who suffered particularly from the crisis – not least after the Oktoberfest was canceled. The city has loosened around 1.7 million euros, many cultural offers cost nothing.

No replacement for the Oktoberfest 2020

"It is not a substitute for the Oktoberfest. It is not a mini Oktoberfest," emphasized Reiter. "It's about offering the opportunity to have fun in the neighborhoods; experiencing art and culture.

"It can be expected that many people in Munich will not be traveling -" and that requires a bit of variety. "Reiter urged visitors to keep further afield and to be careful. The decentralized concept offers many opportunities to avoid. More: Despite Corona – Instead of Oktoberfest 2020: that's what the hosts are planning for the Oktoberfest in Munich
