Murders in paradise: does the island of Sainte-Marie really exist?

While the end of year celebrations are in full swing, France 2 has decided to put the small dishes in the big ones. Wednesday, December 29, 2021, the channel will indeed offer a special Christmas episode of the series “Meurtres au paradis”. Called “Christmas in the Caribbean”, the latter will tell the story of Philip Carlton, a wealthy businessman, who will commit suicide during a party organized in his superb villa. On his body, the police will find his cell phone and come across a farewell message that will leave no doubt about his intentions. If the case will end up being closed, the next day, in London, everything will be turned upside down. As everyone has returned to their Christmas preparations, a taxi driver will receive a greeting card with the following message: “Philip Carlton has been murdered”. Inspector Neville Parker and Sergeant Florence Cassell will then resume the investigation.

Christmas in the Caribbean: a surprise return

The plot of this special episode of “Murders in Paradise” will take place on the island of Sainte-Marie. But does the latter really exist? Well no ! It is actually a fictional island in the Caribbean. Note that this episode will be an opportunity for viewers to find Ralf Little in the role of hypochondriac inspector Neville Parker, facing the French actress Joséphine Jobert, who had joined season 10 of the series in the role of Florence Cassell. But also Don Warrington (Selwyn Patterson), Tahj Miles (Marlon Pryce), Elizabeth Bourgine (Catherine Bordey), and finally Danny John-Jules as Agent Dwayne Myers – a surprise return after his departure at the end of the season 7. The series, whose filming takes place mainly in Guadeloupe, will be available on France 2 from 9:05 pm.
