On October 27, 2022, Netflix released a new movie, titled Murders without order. And one thing is certain, the scenario is chilling. The story chronicles the life of Charles Cullen, nicknamed “the Angel of Death”. Inspired by the book The Good Nurse Written in 2013 by Charles Graeber, this feature film depicts the story of Charles Cullen, who will confess to no less than twenty murders. But experts will find that he killed over 400 people. Between 1998 and 2003, the man worked in various hospitals in which he spotted his victims.

Charles Cullen’s modus operandi is very atypical. Indeed, he injected lethal doses of a drug into the veins of his patients, thus causing cardiac arrests. He will end up being arrested in December 2003 when the investigators manage to gather enough evidence against him, in particular after having discovered the famous drugs in the trash. During his hearings, the murderer gives no reason for his acting out.

Imprisoned for life

But investigators will dig into his childhood. At the age of seven months, he lost his father then his two brother and sister at nine years old. Twice, Charles Cullen will try to end his life. In 1977, he lost his mother and joined the army. For a medical reason, he leaves his military duties. From a personal point of view, he will marry Adrienne Taub, with whom he will have two daughters. To date, Charles Cullen is serving eighteen sentences in a New Jersey prison. The film, Murders Without Orders, broadcast on Netflix, retraces step by step the criminal journey of this man, considered one of the greatest serial killers in history.
