Music festivals in Germany 2024: This is what we can look forward to this year

The German stages have a lot to offer again in 2024. A variety of festivals tempt you, but what’s on the program? An overview.

If you finally want to visit a music festival this year or again, you shouldn’t think about it for too long. Advance sales for most events are already underway. These are the largest and most famous festivals in Germany and this is what they have to offer in 2024.

Rock at the ring and rock in the park

The twin festivals Rock im Park and Rock am Ring have also already announced their complete line-up. These include rock greats, metal legends and hip-hop stars. From June 7th to 9th, 2024 they will perform at the Nürburgring in the Eifel and at the Nuremberg Zeppelin Field. Included are, among others, Green Day, Billy Talent, Die Ärzte, Kraftklub and Måneskin. The Broilers are also celebrating their 30th stage anniversary at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring, and the Donots are celebrating their 30th birthday. The US punk rockers Green Day have two reasons to celebrate: their album “Dookie” turns 30 and their record “American Idiot” turns 20. Rock im Park attracts over 70,000 people to Nuremberg every year, Rock am Ring even attracts up to 90,000 to Adenau in the Eifel.

Tickets for the two festivals are available on the respective official websites. Anyone who takes the entire festival weekend with them currently pays 229 euros without camping and parking. Depending on the category, up to 500 euros can be added on top.

Hurricane and Southside Festival

From June 21st to 23rd, 2024, Scheeßel in Lower Saxony and Neuhausen ob Eck in Baden-Württemberg will once again be transformed into meccas of the festival scene: This time too, the Hurricane Festival and its sister festival Southside will together attract around 150,000 music fans. The headliner line-up is already complete. In addition to acts such as Ed Sheeran, Avril Lavigne, KIZ, Bring Me The Horizon and Deichkind, there are also Sido, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Ayliva, Ski Aggu as well as Tom Odell and Sum 41. Newcomers also have a place here. The focus is on the genres rock, pop, alternative and electro.

Tickets for both festivals are still available on the respective homepages; for 259 euros for the entire weekend.

Parookaville Festival

At Germany’s largest festival for electronic music, the Parookaville Festival, more than 220,000 visitors come together across all days. They gather in North Rhine-Westphalia at Weeze Airport. This will also be the case in 2024 from July 17th to 21st, when headliners Timmy Trumpet, Armin van Buuren and W&W will be guests. Other DJs set to perform at Parookaville include Charlie Sparks, Mariana Bo and Lost Identity, to name a few.

Tickets are available, but some categories can no longer be booked on the event page. Nevertheless, it is currently still possible to visit the festival on all days with a “Full Weekend” ticket. This costs 249 euros without overnight packages or additional offers.

Deichbrand Festival

Kings of Leon, Scooter, Peter Fox, Cro, Nina Chuba, Tokio Hotel, Donots, Alligatoah, Badmómzjay, Clueso, Blümchen, Sondaschula and many more – this is what the Deichbrand Festival 2024 looks like. From July 18th to 21st, around 60,000 people will come together near Cuxhaven to experience musicians from near and far live. In addition to pop, rock and hip-hop, the festival also offers electro and alternative music.

Ticket prices start at 199 euros (combination tickets) including regular campsite. Children between the ages of eight and twelve pay prices from 99 euros, VIP tickets are 599 euros and up. Motorhome spaces can only be partially booked.

Wacken Open Air

Around 85,000 music fans make their way to Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein every year. The mud from this year’s Wacken Open Air seems to have already been washed off your skin, as the heavy metal festival is already sold out for 2024. But don’t worry: there is the option of being added to an official waiting list. The organizer’s website states that canceled tickets will be raffled off among registered interested parties. Next year’s headliners include the Scorpions and the Swedish metal band Amon Amarth. Other announced acts include the medieval rockers In Extremo and the Krefeld metal colleagues Blind Guardian as well as Beast in Black, Knorkator, The Warning, Primordial and Red Fang. Almost all types of hard rock and metal are represented at the festival.

The next edition will take place from July 31st to August 3rd, 2024, all days together cost 333 euros.

On September 7th and 8th, 2024, people will once again dance and celebrate to pop, hip-hop and electronic music in the Olympic Stadium and Olympic Park. Lollapalooza has attracted up to 100,000 visitors in the past and is the largest music festival in Germany. Artists such as David Guetta, Imagine, Dragons, Mumford & Sons and Macklemore have already appeared on stage. But many Berlin artists also celebrate the farewell to the summer with the audience. The line-up for the eighth edition of the Lollapalooza festival in Berlin has not yet been determined, but pre-sales for early bird tickets are already underway.

A two-day ticket is available for 189 euros, teenagers up to 15 years pay 129 euros. Group tickets and travel packages are also available on the official festival website.

If you are a fan of festivals such as Coachella (USA), Tomorrowland (Belgium), Burning Man (USA), Sziget (Hungary) or Glastonbury (England), you sometimes have the opportunity to experience some performances online. Last year, many organizers offered a live stream. It’s best to keep an eye on the official websites and social media channels.
