Musician Pharrell Williams is the new creative director for the men’s line at Louis Vuitton, succeeding Virgil Abloh.

US star Pharrell Williams (49, “Happy”) becomes the new creative director at the French luxury label Louis Vuitton. The musician and the fashion house confirmed this on Tuesday. “Louis Vuitton is delighted to welcome Pharrell Williams as the new Men’s Creative Director. His first collection for Louis Vuitton will be unveiled during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris next June,” reads a black and white photo of Williams, under a ” LV” blanket on Instagram to read.

Successor to Virgil Abloh

Williams succeeds Virgil Abloh (1980-2021). He was hired by Louis Vuitton in 2018 as artistic director of the men’s line. He was the first black designer for the brand and died on November 28, 2021 at the age of just 41 after a two-year battle with a rare form of cancer.

In the three years that he managed menswear at Louis Vuitton, he enjoyed incredible success.
