“Muslim citizens have no lessons to learn from promoters of discord”

Lhe many spontaneous reactions from institutions (the French Council of Muslim Faith reacted on October 10, just like several local committees, as well as members of the Conference of Worship Leaders in Francenot counting all the imams who spoke throughout France) and Muslim citizens of France to condemn the atrocities committed against Israeli civilians, their calls for appeasement and their prayers for all the victims whoever they may be, do not seem sufficient in the eyes of certain media and political leaders who have set themselves up as judges of consciences.

For days, against the backdrop of the tragic events taking place in the Middle East, French citizens of the Muslim faith have been put in the dock by opportunists of all stripes who harbor unbearable suspicion towards them.

In a popular television show, an actor director [Philippe Lellouche, le 14 octobre sur France 2] for example launched: “Where are my Muslim friends, why aren’t you with us right now? ». Another [l’essayiste d’extrême droite Jean Messiha, le 16 octobre sur Cnews] still wonders: “How many Muslims participated in the demonstration in support of Israel? »

Eminent French personalities, unsuspected of their republican commitment, have on the contrary been taken to task for their positions and opinions. Thus, the former prime ministers, Dominique de Villepin and Edouard Philippe, the former minister of foreign affairs Hubert Védrine, the economist Thomas Piketty, the geopolitologist Dominique Moïsi and many others were vilified on social networks even though they unreservedly condemned the atrocities committed by Hamas. Could their only mistake be to have called for peace and a solution of two States living in security side by side?

Clash of civilizations

This “double standard” is even assumed as such by extremists followers of the theory of the clash of civilizations who, more than ever, are poorly hiding their euphoria at seeing this situation of chaos taking hold in this region of the world and in France. . Faced with the injunctions and the unjustifiable and unbearable attacks on the Muslims of France, we have the duty and the obligation to say “enough”.

Citizens of the Muslim faith have no lessons to learn from the promoters of division and discord among the people of France. They would do better to question their own posture out of step with a tragedy which has caused and continues to cause thousands of innocent civilian victims, the majority women and children. Likewise, their silence over all these years on the dramatic situation of the Palestinians makes their current position as judge and prosecutor illegitimate and indecent.
