MW2: DMZ mode should be released for free in 2023


A leaker recently revealed new information about Modern Warfare 2’s third mode, “DMZ” which is said to be inspired by Escape from Tarkov. And according to him, this mode will be playable in free-to-play and should be released in 2023.

A few days ago, we announced that Infinity Ward could completely change direction by developing an RPG according to new job offers.

But according to new information, all these new job offers related to this mysterious RPG would ultimately be dedicated to the free-to-play project that all Activision studios are working on, and it would be the third mystery mode of MW2, “DMZ”.

Indeed, according to the famous leaker Ralphs Valvethis mode has reportedly been in production for around four years and has seen a number of changes throughout its development.

Modern Warfare 2’s “DMZ” mode is described as an open-world mode, which will follow an elaborate storyline as an extension of the campaign. The characters of the campaign will be present, quests will be to be accomplished with in particular PvE and PvP aspects.

RalphsValve also reveals that this mode should be released in beta first, given that its current version is still in pre-alpha.

But today, thanks to the two-year gap the developers have since the next CoD developed by Treyarch will be released in 2024, the release of DMZ would now be scheduled for the first quarter of 2023, provided that Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 meet player expectations.

If the official details concerning this mode remain to this day still rare, an announcement would however be planned for the month of August. So we should have a clearer idea of ​​the developers’ goals and intentions regarding this brand new mode.
