MWC 2022 – A Realme GT smartphone will offer fast charging at 125 W

At the heart of the debates in 2021, ultra-fast charging will again be at the center of innovations again this year. Realme intends to break records in this field by presenting what is described as the “world’s fastest charging technology”. The brand will indeed hold a conference on February 28 as part of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and will formalize a smartphone with a 125 W charging system.

We already know that the GT 2 Pro, its first “premium” mobile, will take its first European steps there, after a presentation in China a few weeks ago. However, this terminal should not be equipped with this 125 W load, unless its Chinese technical sheet – including a 65 W load – is reviewed and corrected for its European launch. We must therefore expect another model stamped GT and characterized by the speed of its charge.

For the time being, the models marketed do not exceed 120 W, as is the case with the Xiaomi 11T Pro available since the second half of 2021. If Nubia has just formalized a Red Magic 7 Pro equipped with a 135 W fast charging system, this video game-oriented smartphone is unlikely to be as widely distributed in Europe, and should leave the field open to Realme.

Finally, remember that fast charging is one of the specialties of a parent brand of Realme, Oppo. The heavyweight of the BBK Electronics ecosystem had indeed unveiled its Flash Charge 125 W in 2020; it allowed to fill up a 4000 mAh battery in 20 minutes. Oppo had however specified, a year later, to have come up against the impact of this fast charge on the durability of the batteries, which explains the current absence of the brand in the field of ultra-fast charging. It only remains to hope that Realme has found a solution to ensure the longevity of its upcoming smartphone.
