MWC 2022 – Get started: the impressive 150 W charging of the Realme GT Neo 3

Realme presents today its novelties at the Mobile World Congress. Among its various products, we were able to take the GT Neo 3 in hand and test its impressive fast charge.

While all attention was focused on the GT 2 and GT 2 Pro, Realme took advantage of its event organized as part of the MWC to discuss its new Ultra Dart fast charging technology at 150 W. For the occasion, the brand has made available a model of its GT Neo 3 – not yet officially announced – to show the velocity of its charge.

A still mysterious model

Realme did not want to comment on the technical data sheet of its next smartphone. The device has a large Oled panel of about 6.6 inches visibly displaying in Full HD +. It turns out to be quite imposing, perhaps too much for the smallest hands. On one of the units configured in English, a quick tour of the settings allowed us to learn that this panel offered a variable refresh rate that could climb up to 120 Hz.

The mobile was also equipped with a Snapdragon 670 (SDM670) coupled with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Everything ran smoothly under Android 11 and the Realme UI 3.0 overlay. The SoC in question is a bit old and it is therefore possible that we will not find it in the final version.

The rear panel is made of a fairly basic grainy plastic and houses a large photo sensor that did not yet seem functional. We can expect a mid-range configuration on this type of model.

Spectacular charging speed

Realme told us that the smartphone has a 5000 mAh battery. An almost standard capacity today, but which is not always synonymous with enormous autonomy. Thanks to its imposing 150 W charging block, the brand claims that it only takes 5 min to recover 50% battery, and only 17 min for a full tank. Performance superior to what Xiaomi’s 120W HyperCharge technology currently offers.

The demonstration is impressive. As you can see in the video above, the promise seems to have been kept. We could not wait for a full recharge, since the exhibitors at Realme wanted to repeat the operation for different media. The mobile did not seem to have overheated, but it would have been necessary to wait for a complete recharge to be sure.

Anyway, and as on the Xiami 11T Pro, this technology allows you to rethink the use of your smartphone… Provided you have the charger nearby.

Of course, neither release date nor price have been communicated. It will therefore probably be necessary to wait a few weeks to find out more about this GT Neo 3.
