While the ultra resistant Magic6 Lite is already available in our regions and the rest of the range has been shown in China, the officialization of the global release of Magic6 Pro was nothing more than a formality for Honor.

The Chinese brand beats its competitor Xiaomi, which will also present today its latest flagship, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. An interesting duel awaits, in a world where smartphones will have to quickly jump on the AI train to attract more consumers in a context of a sluggish market.

The brightest screen in the world?

The Honor Magic5 Pro was a great smartphone. So how can we iterate on such good foundations? What to focus on this year? For Honor, choosing means giving up. Also we see by putting the technical sheets of the different devices side by side that the Magic6 Pro seeks to do better than its predecessor in almost all aspects. In particular: its screen.

Still with a diagonal of 6.8″, still OLED, it benefits from a hybrid 1.5K definition (2800 x 1280 pixels) and adaptive refreshing reaching 120 Hz. But where Honor innovates, it’s good in the brightness of its panel. To the point that we initially thought it was a typo. Hold on tight, the Honor Magic6 Pro would be capable of reaching 5000 nits. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, equipped with the brightest screen on the market currently, announces 2600 nits.

We can’t wait to discover what it can be like under the blazing sun. For the rest, we will obviously find a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The 5600 mAh battery promises solid autonomy, especially since charging increases to 80W this year (66W wireless).

A 180 megapixel zoom

Another jaw-dropping feature, the Honor Magic6 Pro innovates with a trio of articulated cameras with surprising features.

  • Wide-angle: 50 Mpx (1/1.3″; ƒ/1.4-2.0; PDAF; OIS);
  • Ultra wide-angle: 50 Mpx (1/2.76″; ƒ/2.0; AF);
  • 2.5x telephoto lens: 180 Mpx (1/1.49″; ƒ/2.6; PDAF; OIS);
  • Selfie: 50 Mpx (ƒ/2.0; AF).

If the Xiaomi 14 Ultra should maintain its lead at wide-angle with its new 1″ Sony sensor, Honor creates a surprise with a 180 megapixel zoom, which is also of very good size. If its magnification factor is modest, the brand also promises that the digital zoom reaches 100x while maintaining a good level of detail.

The Magic6 Pro will also benefit from version 2.0 of the Falcon Capture algorithm, significantly improving the speed of autofocus to freeze the subject of your photos.
