Dubai fashion: traditional styles or influencer trends?

Dubai has developed into one of the “places to be” in recent years. The glittering glow that surrounds the city attracts influencers and celebrities to the desert. The desire for splendor and prosperity is in the foreground, but of course the spectacular architecture is also in the foreground.
For several years now, the tales and stories of Dubai have made me very curious. When I was able to enjoy the city myself six months ago, what particularly caught my eye was the style that prevailed there. The “Dubai Fashion Week, which was founded by the Arab Fashion Council and the Dubai Art District. This enables local designers to present extravagant styles and classic Arabic fashion.
Nevertheless, the style of the Arabian desert city is far more diverse and ambivalent than expected. The wave of influencers that is flowing through Dubai is also bringing with it new styles.
Dubai: The city of controversial fashion
The cut-out fashion, which made its big debut in the 90s, has been back in vogue since 2021. This trend seems to be particularly popular with influencers in Dubai. Despite the traditionally Islamic culture, the motto, especially among influencers, is “the less, the better”. Influencer Antonia Freya is also following the trend. She poses in front of the city skyline. With her almost shoulder-free dress and a cut-out at hip level, she is a real eye-catcher!
Did somebody say luxury? Here it is!
Whether on the beach or at a restaurant, luxury can’t be missing anywhere. Leonie Hanne has perfected this mindset. She is seen dancing around the beach in a full Gucci look. Of course, enough accessories should not be missing. Thick sunglasses on her nose, a Gucci bag in her hand, she’s ready for the beach.
Black and white is out, bring on the bright colors
While a black and white combination is often worn during the day, it looks rather uninteresting in the evening. The bright colors are brought out and the competition for the most extravagant dress begins. Visitors to Dubai dazzle like peacocks as they head out for a late dinner. Ezgi Findik shows us how it’s done: She lets herself be photographed in a blood-red dress. Large earrings and a sparkling bag complete the look.
Match your car
In Dubai, the cherry on the cake is when your outfit matches the color of your car. The craziest thing is probably that you can rent a section of road to stage a photo shoot or even use the horsepower without being stopped by the police.
Influencer gypsea_lust, also known as Lauren Bullen, tried this exact trend. She casually poses in front of a black Lamborghini. The stripes on her zebra print dress match the black car perfectly. White Chucks give the look a casual lightness.

More and more newcomers and tourists are adapting to the culture of the Arab Emirates by dressing up in long robes. Simple colors such as white and brown tones create an elegant look and at the same time protect from the sun. The fabrics range from silk to linen to muslin.
