My Hero Academia World Heroes Mission: where is the movie located in the anime timeline?

Six months after Japan, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is finally arriving in French cinemas! But then, where does it stand in relation to the animated adaptation?

Here we are ! Five months after leaving them on the DNA platform, you will be able to find the future heroes of My Hero Academia in cinemas tomorrow. Following the resounding successes of Two Heroes and Heroes Rising, a brand new film entitled World Heroes’ Mission is coming to French cinemas.

On this occasion, the characters created by the mangaka Kōhei Horikoshi are distributed in different countries, in search of bombs deposited by Humanize, a terrorist group convinced that the alters represent a threat for humanity. But where to situate this event in relation to the animated adaptation?

Like its two predecessors, World Heroes’ Mission is more fan-service film than canon. Nevertheless, it is important to have read the majority of the work and/or seen a good part of the series to fully understand the course and the issues of the story. And for good reason, the plot takes place during the arc at Endeavor’s agency, equivalent to volume 25 of the manga and half of season 5 on the anime side.

It is indeed during the apprenticeship with the number one superhero that our trio of protagonists, Midoriya, Bakugo and Shoto, find themselves called on a mission to dismantle Humanize and its faithful.

The rumor also assumes that it is this film which would have shaken up the chronology of the anime in season 5. This arc would have been inverted with that devoted to the villains to stick to the cinema release in Japan, and thus facilitate good understanding. of the scenario for the spectators.

A small teaser was notably slipped into the anime on the occasion of the filler “Reunion with Selkie” aired on July 17, 2021, three weeks before the feature film lands in Japanese cinemas.

During this 104th episode, the characters of Ochako and Tsuyuu team up with the professional hero Selkie, and attempt to intercept an unidentified ship, towing suspicious cargo. After arrest, we learn that the carrier was heading for the fictional country of Otheon to bring the drug Trigger there, allowing to massively increase the power of the alters.

This information, apparently lambdas, nevertheless turns out to be the bases of the pitch proposed by World Heroes’ Mission whose plot takes place mainly in Otheon, and involves bombs composed of Trigger.

And if despite these small clues, we could have believed in a coincidence, the post-credits scene of the episode confirms that this filler was intended to tease the film for us. We discover a man with blue skin, in the heart of what looks like a chapel. Somewhat upset that his cargo could not be delivered, he however states that he has “the quantity needed“and be ready to”offer salvation to humanity“.

This brand new character is revealed to be Flect Turn, leader of the Humanize group and main antagonist of World Heroes Mission.
