“My Internet connection”: discover the map of debits in France in its latest update

The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Communications, Posts and Press Distribution (ARCEP) has just published its figures concerning the territorial coverage of Good High Speed ​​(BHD) and Very High Speed ​​(THD).

Quarterly results which reflect in particular an almost complete coverage of the territory by fixed 4G.

Nearly three quarters of French soil are eligible for fiber

The data provided by the operators allow the ARCEP maps to be updated quarterly as to the coverage of the national territory by the various fixed Internet services. And the first good news is that the deployment of fiber is continuing. 62.1% eligibility in June 2021, 67.9% in December 2021 and 72.3% in June 2022, such is the assessment at the national level.

Taking into account fibre, cable and part of the copper and radio network, 81.2% of French households are eligible for Very High Speed ​​(THD) according to ARCEP, i.e. speeds greater than 30 Mb/s.

Good news also on the fixed 4G side. From 57.4% eligibility as of June 30, 2021, 4G was available for 67% of households as of December 31, 2021 to 98.9% as of June 30, 2022! This record deployment thus makes it possible to cover almost all households with Good Broadband (BHD), i.e. speeds of between 8 Mb/s and 30 Mb/s.

And the Ardéchois then?

If Reunion has an eligibility rate of 91.5% for THD, the same is not true for Guyana (51%) and Mayotte (39.2%). In mainland France, the contrast in access to Very High Speed ​​remains obvious between Hauts-de-France, strong at 92.5%, and Brittany, limited to only 53.9%. As for Corsica, it does not reach 70% eligibility (67.6%).

At the departmental level, the gaps are even wider, with, for example, an eligibility rate of only 44.4% for THD in Ardèche, and only 28.2% for fibre. As for an interdepartmental comparison, still in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the Rhône department is, for its part, eligible for 94% THD, of which 90.9% fiber.

Paris is an exception, with 100% eligibility for Very High Speed. The generalization of fiber optics in France by 2025, according to the government’s objective, is therefore on the right track.
