Nabilla infected with foot-hand-mouth syndrome

Milann contracted hand-foot-mouth syndrome and infected his parents, Nabilla and Thomas Vergara. Yes, adults can get this childhood disease too! What is it about ?

Nabilla Vergara was less present on social networks this week, and for good reason. The influencer contracted hand-foot-mouth syndrome, just like her husband Thomas, after their son Milann was infected at nursery. This viral disease is very common in young children, but many adults are unaware that they too can be victims.

The whole Vergara family therefore contracted the symptoms of the disease: pimples, fatigue, fever, body aches … “This hand, foot and mouth disease is crazy, it looks a bit like chickenpox”, comments Nabilla. And she adds: “I’m a little disgusted to have caught this. I have a sore throat as well. The symptoms are quite lax. It’s all at the same time.”

If the foot-hand-mouth syndrome is indeed rather “suck”, it is fortunately not serious. The Health Insurance website thus indicates that it is a “mild viral infection”, which mainly affects children from 6 months to 4 years old. Symptoms include fever, loss of appetite, headache and throat pain, rhunitis, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Then come the pimples that give the disease its name, since they are mainly located on the feet, hands and around and in the mouth. The virus can be transmitted through nasopharyngeal secretions, skin lesions or even stool.

Also according to Health Insurance, the symptoms of hand, foot and mouth disease last about 10 days. Patients are particularly contagious during the peak of the syndrome, namely the first week, but they can continue to transmit the virus for several weeks, as long as it is present in their stool. After infection, you are immune to the syndrome, but only to the virus that caused it. Thus, one can be in contact with another microbe which transmits it and have it again if it is not the same as the first time.
