The national soccer player Nadiem Amiri has been infected with the corona virus. This has been announced by his club Bayer Leverkusen.

Nadiem Amiri (24) has Covid-19. As the Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen announced on January 28th, the professional soccer player tested positive. Amiri, who also plays in the German national team, was diagnosed last Tuesday and then went "immediately to quarantine at home".

Further measures in coordination with the health department

Further measures would be coordinated in cooperation with the responsible health department in Düsseldorf, the club explains. The infection means that Amiri will not be able to play against RB Leipzig next Saturday.

He is already the fifth player in the Bundesliga club's first team who has tested positive for a corona infection in the past few weeks. Wendell (27), Kerem Demirbay (27), Edmond Tapsoba (21) and Daley Sinkgraven (25) had previously contracted Covid-19.
