Nadine Morano: “The choice of the Prime Minister, I don’t care”

Guest of Sonia Mabrouk during the Grand Rendez-vous, on CNEWS, this Sunday, May 15, Nadine Morano, LR MEP, spoke about the choice of the next Prime Minister.

The MEP does not seem passionate about the appointment of the next tenant of Matignon.

Asked about the potential choice of Catherine Vautrin, former support of Nicolas Sarkozy, Nadine Morano recognizes that it is “a woman of quality, incontestably”.

Doubts about the appointment of Catherine Vautrin

But the MEP has expressed doubts since the rallying of the president of Grand Reims to the presidential majority of Emmanuel Macron: “Is she ready to deny all the ideas she has defended for a long time?”

As a reminder, Catherine Vautrin has been a member of the UMP and the Republicans since 2002. She was Minister Delegate for Social Cohesion and Parity under the presidency of Jacques Chirac, from 2005 to 2007. During the presidential primary of the Republicans in 2016, she joined Nicolas Sarkozy as his campaign spokesperson.

“My problem is that we have a maximum of deputies in the Assembly”

Nadine Morano also expressed her disinterest in the person who will be appointed to Matignon in the coming days. “The Prime Minister’s choice doesn’t matter to me. It is the choice of the President of the Republic, it is not mine”.

From now on, the former Secretary of State in charge of Family and Solidarity is concentrating on her party and on the next legislative deadlines. “My problem is to ensure that we have the maximum number of deputies in the National Assembly who wear the colors of the Republicans, who will bring another policy to represent the French”.

Finally, she felt that the presence of the Republicans in the Hemicycle “will allow a counter-power to a President of the Republic who takes his time as if there was no urgency”. The challenge will be immense for the party of the Republican right, after a historic rout in the last presidential election, where Valérie Pécresse won only 4.7% of the vote.
