A fire engine from the Saint-Herblain rescue center was targeted this Wednesday morning, near the Camus high school, located in Nantes. “The Tonne Pump Van was the target of projectiles and mortar fire when putting out a garbage fire”, indicate the firefighters of Loire-Atlantique, specifying that this took place on the sidelines of a gathering of opponents of the pension reform. If there were no injuries or breakages, the SDIS 44 will file a complaint.

“I support the firefighters who have just suffered an intolerable attack on the sidelines of an intervention. The Loire-Atlantique firefighters are committed daily to rescue and protect our fellow citizens. It is unacceptable that they can be attacked during their interventions”, reacted Michel Ménard, the president of the Department and of the board of directors of the departmental fire and rescue service of Loire-Atlantique.

The prefect of Loire-Atlantique and Pays de la Loire also wanted to support the firefighters in a message posted on Twitter: “These acts against professionals who assist us on a daily basis are inadmissible.”

Tuesday evening, 10 police officers were injured during the torchlight march organized in Nantes. Some have had stones on their hands or have been targeted by furniture, and are suffering from bruises.
