Napoleon: conquest or defeat at the French box office?

TO REMEMBER

After having generated a lot of comments and positive and negative reviews (we tell you here if the film is good), Napoleon was it successfully launched in France? With more than 764,000 admissions in one week (including previews), Ridley Scott’s blockbuster takes the lead this week, and achieves the 13th best start of the year. For comparison, it’s better than Martin Scorsese and his epic film Killers of the Flower Moon, but less strong than Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

If it’s not the best start to Ridley Scott’s career (Gladiator is first, with more than 1.2 million admissions), it’s better than his latest film, House of Gucci , which ended its first week with 293,000 admissions.

Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird drops to 2nd place, but continues to attract more than 370,000 spectators (a cumulative total of almost a million entries in the 2nd week).

In third place, Hayao Miyazaki continues to do wonders. The Boy and the Heron holds up very well. It records 138,088 more entries, for a total of 1,369,192 entries.

It’s more complicated for the week’s new releases to emerge (many are outside the Top 10). Alone Nothing to lose with Virginie Efira and the animated film Mars Express climb into the Top 10.
