I do have a bit of respect, but I’m still looking forward to the start of the race,” reveals long-time Nassfeld tourism expert Markus Brandstätter, whom the “Bergkrone” recently caught during secret training away from the finish slope of the “Carnia” valley run. That’s understandable For Markus, it was his first ever ski touring race: “Fortunately, there is also a refreshment station along the piste from Tröpolach up to the Gmanberg where meat loaf, tea and beer are served,” smiles Markus, and at the same time challenges all of Carinthia’s tourism professionals to compete in it: “It’s all about the middle time.” -Ski school director Alexander Huber as he prepares for a freeride camp. Incidentally, Gailtal’s national team ski mountaineer Christof Hochenwarter holds the record for the 1,800 meter long route with an altitude of 410 meters with an incredible time of 15 minutes and 25 seconds. Nevertheless, joy and fun are absolutely the focus of the Nassfeld Night Sprint. Red lantern as a special prize “There is a special prize for the slowest person, namely the red lantern,” smiles Markus: “Maybe I will get it.” Of course, anyone can take part and if you want, you can also run up the valley run in running shoes. “The Night Sprint starts on Saturday, January 27th, promptly at 7 p.m. The entire route is illuminated with floodlights,” says race director Alex. Before the start of the race, the starting numbers will be handed out at the Tröpolach information and service center (millenium express valley station) between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Alex: “Shortly before the race at 6:45 p.m. there is the race meeting, which is mandatory for all starters. All the rules are also explained.” The entry fee itself is 25 euros. “The entry fee includes a start number, a starter bag with goodies, a ticket for the descent and a voucher for the pasta party afterwards.” Markus, Alex and the organization team are looking forward to many participants, to make the Night Sprint not only the greatest ski touring and piste running event in Carinthia but also to celebrate together.
