Natascha Ochsenknecht: sense of smell and taste lost due to corona infection

Natascha Ochsenknecht is Corona-positive. On Instagram, she makes it clear: "It's not an easy walk."

"It's time for the truth," writes Natascha Ochsenknecht (56) on Instagram. In a video over two minutes long, the author makes public that she is currently fighting against a corona infection. "I've been knocked out for the last ten days," she reports to her followers. And further: "I was lying flat with a bad cough, with very bad body aches, my eye sockets were cracked and my lungs burned like fire."

Meanwhile, the 56-year-old is better again, but she still has a slight cough. Much worse: "My sense of smell and taste are gone." For Ochsenknecht it feels like she is "actually just eating paper and drinking water". "It's a strange feeling," she says.

With daughter Chayenne in Austria

The mother of three is currently staying with daughter Chayenne Ochsenknecht (20) in Austria. They wanted to go on a promotion tour for their new book together, but this has to pause for now. How is the 20-year-old who is currently pregnant with her first child? "Chayenne is fine," explains Ochsenknecht in her video. "She was sick too, but thank God that has nothing to do with me." The 56-year-old hopes for a negative test result in the coming days so that she can travel back to Germany.

Ochsenknecht sends warning words to all corona deniers. From her own experience, she can now report that an infection with the coronavirus is "no easy walk". So her appeal: "Hold the ball down and don't make people feel even more insecure, as you do all the time. If you want to demonstrate, just do it for a good cause."
