"I'm begging you, call your boss!"
Facing the cameras of C8, Nathalie Marquay does not mince words and affirms that "it was not serious that he went to work" in the premises of TF1 to present the news. For his part, Jean-Pierre Pernaut refuses to abandon the ship and provokes the anger of his wife: "I beg you. Call your boss. I don't want you to go to TF1. It's too dangerous!", she swung at him, claiming he was "a person at risk". And for good reason, the average age of patients with Covid-19 is seventy-three years (Jean-Pierre Pernaut is seventy) and 53% are men.
Finally, Jean-Pierre Pernaut will agree to listen to Nathalie Marquay and present the 1pm newscast live from his home with an adequate installation. In the documentary The life of your Misses, the journalist's wife even took the opportunity to make a funny little secret behind the scenes of these "home news": "He even once featured the JT with flip flops!" For Jean-Pierre Pernaut, nothing better than the natural to present a television news close to the French: "I was like everyone else. I was confined like people, so we were even more in the logic of 1 pm, which is in the proximity". After thirty-nine years of good and loyal service, "JPP" will present his last newscast on December 18, 2020.
