National League on Friday – O’Neill shoots champion Zug to win in Bern – Sport

  • Champions Zug kicked off their new season in the National League with a 2-1 overtime win at SC Bern.
  • Ambri surprised at the start and kidnapped 2 points from Freiburg.
  • Biel wins an extremely balanced game in Lausanne.

Bern – train 1: 2 aet

With Colton Sceviour making it 1-1 in the 53rd minute, the home team was rewarded for a particularly fierce display. Bern had Zug more than just under control, especially in the first third, but still couldn’t find a way past Leonardo Genoni. In the second half, the guests improved noticeably and took the lead through Christian Djoos in the 24th minute. The SCB was denied one goal each in the second and third periods. After Bern equalized, both teams had chances to end the game in regular time. Ultimately, however, extra time had to decide and in this the master retained the upper hand. Peter Cehlarik launched Brian O’Neill, who gave Philip Wüthrich no chance in a 1v1.

Freiburg – Ambri 1: 2 aet

Gottéron’s efficiency threw a spanner in the works at the start of the season. 35 shots at the opposing goal resulted in only one goal, the interim equalization in the middle third by Killian Mottet in double the majority (25th). Ambri’s goalkeeper Benjamin Conz hexed his colors into overtime, in which Dario Bürgler eluded the Freiburg team and reto Berra scored to make it 2-1.

Geneva – Davos 3: 2 nP

10 shooters started in the penalty shootout, only Vincent Praplan was successful. The former SCB striker found a way past Sandro Aeschlimann with his backhand and secured the extra point for Geneva-Servette. The home team got off to a better start and was up 2-0 up to the 23rd minute. However, HCD came back in the middle third with goals from Leon Bristedt (31st) and Simon Knak (36th).

Lausanne – Biel 2:3

Also in the duel between the Vaud and the Seeländer, it was a new signing that decided the game. Jesper Olofsson, last season’s top scorer with the SCL Tigers, benefited in the 45th minute from a failed excursion by Lausanne goalie Tobias Stephan to mark the decisive 3:2 for the guests. Lausanne and Biel met at eye level throughout the game. The people of Biel ultimately kept the better end for themselves.

SCL Tigers – ZSC Lions 2:1 aet

The ZSC did not succeed in reacting to the 4-1 defeat at the Lakers on Wednesday. Although the Lions got their first point in Emmental, they had to leave the ice for the second time as losers. This is because Vili Saarijärvi secured the much-acclaimed extra point for the Tigers after 32 seconds in overtime. In the regular 60 minutes, Dean Kukan gave ZSC the lead (12′), Germany’s Marc Michaelis made it 1-1 (17′).

Lugano – Ajoie 1-0

Even a very strong Damiano Ciaccio (35 saves) in goal wasn’t enough for Ajoie to win a point in Ticino. Lugano dominated the game in the Corner Arena almost at will but failed to transfer the dominance to the scoreboard. Nevertheless, a goal from newcomer Calle Andersson in the 5th minute was enough to win the 3 points. Lugano mover Mikko Koskinen celebrated his first shutout in the first game (17 saves).
