  • The EVZ suffered its 5th defeat in a row against Lugano and still doesn’t definitely have the playoff ticket in its pocket. The Ticino team is at least temporarily back in the top 6.
  • After another defeat, Bern is threatened with falling out of the direct playoff ranks.
  • Ajoie prevents the 10th defeat in a row against Biel, the Lakers win the Zurich derby against the ZSC Lions.

Zug – Lugano 1:5

After an almost two-week break, Lugano celebrated a furious return to the National League. In Zug, after a goalless first third, there was little to suggest that Ticino would win comfortably. The visitors dominated the game right from the start, but Leonardo Genoni kept his goal clean for 20 minutes. Michael Joly (33′) took advantage of the first outnumbered situation to take the lead. The EVZ knew how to react to this immediately, but after the Ticino team took the lead again through Luca Fazzini (35th) with a precise shot under the crossbar, Zug’s resistance was broken.

Calvin Thürkauf (39th) with a shorthander, Bernd Wolf (43rd) and Mark Arcobello (45th) increased to 5:1 after a catastrophic bad pass on Fazzini’s shovel. For third-placed Zug, qualifying for the playoffs is actually just a formality, but after their fifth defeat in a row they are still not in the clear. Lugano, on the other hand, is back in the top 6 thanks to the away win.

Bern – Ambri 4:5 nV

More to come.

Ajoie – Biel 4:2

With a much celebrated home win, Ajoie prevented their 10th defeat in a row. The Jurassians gave up a 2-0 lead against Biel, but mercilessly took advantage of two mistakes by the guests from Seeland in the final third. The 3:2 by Dmytro Timashov (51′) was preceded by a loss of a target by Bachofner in his own zone, the 4:2 by Kyen Sopa (55′) by a bad pass from Jere Sallinen. It was Sopa’s second goal of the evening. The Seelanders failed to put pressure on the direct playoff positions.

Freiburg – SCL Tigers 3:5

It was a rare defeat for Fribourg-Gottéron, who had already qualified for the playoffs. The “Dragons” had only lost 2 of the last 10 games. Against the Tigers, the hosts really came under the wheels in the final third. Twice Dario Rohrbach (42nd/45th) and Saku Mäenalanen (52nd) turned a narrow 2-1 lead into a decisive 5-1. The two late goals did not change anything about the away win, which was probably not budgeted for. With a place in the play-in it will still be difficult for the Emmental team. Ambri, placed in 10th place, currently has the same number of points as the Tigers, but has two fewer games in its account.
