  • The ZSC Lions (5:2 at Geneva-Servette) and Freiburg (5:3 against Davos) remain in step in the National League.
  • Zug and SC Bern secured the additional point in the penalty shootout.
  • Kloten also wrestles down Ajoie, Lugano gets their first win of the season against Lausanne.

Geneva-Servette – ZSC Lions 2:5

In the duel between champions and leaders, the home team actually dominated the game for long stretches. However, the goals were scored by the guest from Zurich, for whom Yannick Zehnder with a brace (25th/33rd) and Juho Lammikko (27th) made things clear early on until the end of the game. Julius Honka (39th) and Sami Vatanen (46th) were able to reduce the deficit again, but were unable to avert defeat. Thanks to their 15th away win of the season, the Lions are keeping their pursuers Freiburg at bay.

Davos – Freiburg 3:5

Freiburg remains the feared opponent of HC Davos this season. The Graubünden team suffered their fourth defeat in their fourth meeting against Gottéron and suffered a setback in the fight for a direct playoff place. Despite being 1:4 behind, Davos didn’t give up and celebrated the supposed 4:4 equalizer by Dominik Egli in the 57th minute. However, the goal was disallowed after a coaches challenge due to an offside. Shortly afterwards, Chris DiDomenico made everything clear with an empty netter.

Zug – Ambri-Piotta 3:2 nP

With Leonardo Genoni’s comeback, Zug found its way back to winning ways after three recent home defeats. The recovered goalkeeper, who had been missing from Central Switzerland for around three weeks, became the match winner in the Gotthard derby together with Lino Martschini. Genoni parried all of Ticino’s attempts in the penalty shootout, and Martschini was the only Zug scorer to score. The guests had previously been able to turn around a 0-1 deficit, with Dario Simion saving Zug into extra time in the 59th minute.

Rapperswil-Jona – SC Bern

More to come…

Lugano – Lausanne 4:2

Two debut goalscorers got on the scoresheet in Lugano’s first win against Lausanne this season. In the 23rd minute, Mario Kempe made it 1-0 for the home team. The new Swede was successful in the majority after a rebound. John Quenneville – under contract in Ticino since December 2023 – made it 3-1 with his first goal in a Lugano uniform. Lausanne was only able to react (too) late in the third third. Jiri Sekac’s goal came 34 seconds before the final siren.

Ajoie – Kloten 2:3 aet

In the last game under the direction of interim coach Larry Mitchell, Kloten confirmed his upward trend. The airport town team, who had recently made people sit up and take notice with victories against the ZSC Lions and Zug, also retained the upper hand in the basement duel against bottom team Ajoie. In a nasty game with a total of three game-time disciplinary penalties, the decision was only made in extra time. 5 seconds before overtime expired, Axel Simic secured the additional point.
