National League on Sunday – Davos trio shoots down Lugano – Ambri beats Lausanne – Sport

  • Davos easily won 4-0 in the 39th round of the National League in Lugano.
  • Ambri converted a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 win against Lausanne.

After a championship break of more than a week and the dismissal of coach Christian Wohlwend last Wednesday, Davos appeared well recovered in Lugano and up to the task. In the first game, under the command of interim duo Glen Metropolitan and Waltteri Immonen, there was an unchallenged 4-0 win.

The music was provided by the first line from Davos with top scorer Enzo Corvi, Captain Andres Ambühl and Matej Stransky. The latter opened the score in the 9th minute on the power play. A coach’s challenge from Lugano trainer Luca Gianinazzi because of an alleged offside was unsuccessful. Shortly after Daniel Carr had hit the post for the home team, Ambühl made it 2-0 with a precise wrist shot just before the end of the period.

Corvi puts the finishing touch

The Czech Stransky didn’t have enough: he used Lugano’s careless defensive behavior to score his second personal goal (26th). That was the end of it: Corvi, who had shone as an assist in the first 3 goals, crowned his excellent performance with the 4:0 (45th).

Thanks to the three points, Davos overtakes Bern and climbs to 6th place. Lugano, who sent out a sign of life on Friday with the 7:4 at leader Servette, fell back into the old waters and suffered their 4th defeat from the last 5 games.

Lausanne loses in Ambri

Lausanne failed to close the gap on twelfth-placed Lugano. After a 1-0 lead, the Vaud lost 4-1 in Ambri. After Daniel Audette’s opening goal (21st), Lausanne was unable to convert its superiority into further goals.

All of the Biancoblu’s goals came in the final third. First Dario Bürgler and Tim Heed were successful on the power play, then Alex Formenton and Jesse Virtanen made the decision.
