  • HC Davos (6:3 against Zug) and Geneva-Servette (3:1 at Ajoie) achieved important victories in the fight for the playoffs in the National League.
  • Biel lost 2:5 away to Lausanne and was in danger of losing touch.

Davos – train 6:3

It was a curious goal that secured Davos the home win against the guests from Zug. EVZ captain Jan Kovar played back to the blue line in the opposing zone, but there was no teammate to be found there. Because Zug’s goalkeeper Luca Hollenstein had already made way for a sixth field player at this point, the disc rolled over the line to make it 5:3 for Davos. The official goalscorer was Valentin Nussbaumer, who was the last Davos player to have the puck. The 23-year-old was responsible for the 4:3 with a nice individual performance. Davos, which had lost a 2-0 lead in a turbulent game, celebrated its third win in a row and is now only three points behind Lugano in 6th place. However, the Graubünden team has played two fewer games.

Ajoie – Geneva-Servette 1:3

Geneva-Servette also achieved an important victory in the fight for a direct playoff place. During the guest appearance in Pruntrut, the champions celebrated their 4th victory in the 4th duel of the season with the bottom team. However, the Geneva team, who advanced thanks to goals from Marc-Antoine Pouliot (5th) and Sami Vatanen (25th), had to worry about the three points until the end. Ajoie had good chances to equalize in the final phase, but Servette’s goalie Jussi Olkinuora (27 saves) demonstrated his class. 11 seconds before the final siren, Valtteri Filppula secured Geneva’s 3-1 victory with a shot into the empty goal.

Lausanne – Biel 5:2

Biel failed to keep up with its direct competitors. The Zealanders were able to react to the 0-1 deficit in the first third through Jérôme Bachofner. The striker let two Lausanne defenders out and scored a remarkable 1-1 equalizer in the 18th minute. Ken Jäger (22nd) and Tim Bozon (27th) brought the home team back to winning ways in the middle third. The game was decided at the latest after Damien Riat’s 4-1 win. While Lausanne returned to victory after three defeats in a row, Biel is still 7 points behind a playoff place.
