National tribute next week at the Invalides in memory of Admiral Philippe de Gaulle

A national tribute will take place next week at Les Invalides in memory of Admiral Philippe de Gaulle, who died at the age of 102 on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.

The President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, will pay a “national tribute next week at Les Invalides” to Admiral Philippe de Gaulle, eldest son of the general who died at the age of 102, government spokesperson Prisca Thevenot announced on Wednesday.

The Head of State “began the Council of Ministers today (Wednesday, Editor’s note) with a strong word in memory of Admiral de Gaulle who died early this morning”, declared the minister, citing the words of Mr. Macron: “A great resistance fighter, a companion of the Liberation, committed from the first hours of the Liberation”.

Born on December 28, 1921 in Paris, Philippe de Gaulle, a former student of the Naval Academy, joined the Free French Naval Forces in 1940. According to information from Europe 1, he asked to be buried in Colombey-les-Deux-Églises near his wife.
