April 10 (Reuters) – NATO is working on a plan for a permanent military presence on its borders to prevent future Russian aggression, the Telegraph reported, citing Atlantic Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
NATO is “in the midst of a fundamental transformation” which will reflect “the long-term consequences” of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s actions, Jens Stoltenberg said in an interview with the British newspaper.
“We are now seeing a new reality, a new ‘normal’ for European security. That is why we have asked our military commanders to present options for what we call a reset, a long-term adaptation of NATO “, indicated the Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance.
Jens Stoltenberg, who recently agreed to extend his tenure as head of NATO for another year, also said decisions on the reset would be taken at the alliance summit to be held in Madrid in June.
