Naughty Dog: crazy ambitions for the next game from the creators of The Last of Us

What to prepare Naughty Dog ? The studio behind the Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter And Uncharted left us in 2020 with The Last of Us Part IIsince contenting itself with offering remakes of the adventures of Joel And Ellie. Besides a TLOU Online canceled, a single-player game project is in development.

In the documentary Grounded II: Making of The Last of Us Part II, Neil Druckmann hinted that he had ideas for a third part, but nothing has been confirmed since. The co-president of Naughty Dog and co-creator of the franchise TLOU was entitled to a nice promotional interview on the official website of Sonywith statements that are enough to intrigue fans :

I’ve had the chance to work on several dream projects and I’m currently excited about a new project, which may be my most exciting yet. There is a growing appreciation for video gaming that transcends all age groups, unlike when I was growing up. This shift is highlighted by our venture into television with The Last of Us, which I hoped would bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers. The success of the show has put gaming in the spotlight, illustrating the rich and immersive experiences it offers. This visibility not only excites me about our current project, but also about the broader potential of video games to captivate a global audience. I can’t wait to see how this new game resonates, especially after the success of The Last of Us, because it could redefine traditional perceptions of video games.

“Redefining traditional perceptions of video games”, just that! Neil Druckmann has big ambitions for his next project, which remains completely unknown. Is this The Last of Us Part III ? Well not necessarily, because in the interview, the head of Naughty Dog speaks well of evolving, moving forward and daring to embark on new adventures:

You have to take risks to come up with new ideas that resonate with audiences, and even though Uncharted was a resounding success, it was important for our studio to innovate again with a new franchise like The Last of Us. Many companies insist to stick to profitable franchises, but Sony Interactive Entertainment’s culture and philosophy allow us to pursue new ideas. Art requires risk; You cannot design perfectly and predict its success. I’m incredibly grateful that SIE trusts us to leverage our past successes to explore entirely new creative avenues.

Okay, Neil Druckmann brushes Sony in the direction of the hair, but Naughty Dog has still paid the price of numerous layoffs in recent weekslike other studios PlayStation… Either way, fans are obviously eager to learn more about the upcoming game Naughty Dog, especially if it is a new license! In the meantime, you can find The Last of Us Part II Remastered from €39.90 on Amazon, Cdiscount And Fnac.
