Naughty Dog fires, very bad news for multiplayer game The Last of Us

Naughty Dog is famous for Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, Uncharted and more recently The Last of Us, which recently celebrated its tenth anniversary. Unfortunately, the studio has not mentioned anything regarding its future projects, namely a solo title and an episode of The Last of Us in multiplayer.

And if Naughty Dog is silent, it’s obviously because internally, things are not going well. According to Kotaku, the studio reportedly laid off at least 25 developers, mainly in the quality assurance sector, but also on the artist and production side. In the last news, Naughty Dog had approximately 400 employees. The 25 people affected by this wave of layoffs will be thanked at the end of the month and the studio asks them to remain silent.

Furthermore, a source of Kotaku affirm that multiplayer game development The Last of Us is stalled, but the title is not canceled. This directly echoes an old article from Bloomberg who had heard of bad feedback on the project before the summer, Bungie (purchased by Sony because games specialist live service) had not been enthusiastic about the project in its current state. Apparently this has gotten worse in recent months…

So there’s a lot going on at Naughty Dog Currently, its co-president Evan Wells will leave the studio at the end of the yearand most recently, it was Jim Ryan, president of Sony Interactive Entertainment who carried the games for a long time live service forward, who announced his departure. We will have to wait several months to see how all this will evolve on the home side. Sony/PlayStation And Naughty Dog.
