Naya Rivera's death certificate shows that she drowned "within minutes". She has now been buried.
US actress Naya Rivera (1987-2020, "Glee") drowned "within minutes" according to her death certificate. The document, from which several US pages quote, also reveals further details. The autopsy was also found to be an accidental death without other causes or previous physical illnesses. No traces of drugs or alcohol were found in her body.
The document also shows that the US star was buried last Friday (July 24) in the famous "Forest Lawn Memorial Park" cemetery in the Hollywood Hills.
She was missing for days
The actress rented a boat on July 8 to take her four-year-old son on a trip to Lake Piru in Los Padres National Forest, Ventura County, California. When the return was overdue, the landlord apparently started looking for the watercraft. "Naya's son was later found sleeping on the boat floating in a northern part of the lake (…) The boy was wearing a life jacket when found and was wrapped in a towel," said Bill Ayub, sheriff of Ventura County, at a press conference.
There was no trace of his mother. An intensive search on and in the lake began. Shortly after a body was found in the lake on July 13, the police confirmed that it was the missing actress.
Naya Rivera became known as Santana Lopez in the TV series "Glee" (2009-2015). Her son comes from a marriage (2014-2018) to Ryan Dorsey (36).
