Naya Rivera: Your ex-husband is suing Ventura County

Ryan Dorsey, ex-husband of the late "Glee" star Naya Rivera, is suing the Ventura District. The rental boat was not safe enough.

"Glee" star Naya Rivera (1987-2020) drowned in July on a boat trip with her five-year-old son Josey in Lake Piru. And her ex-husband and father of their son, Ryan Dorsey (37), has apparently identified the culprit in his eyes: Ventura County. According to the US celebrity portal "TMZ", Dorsey has now filed a lawsuit on behalf of his son against the district in the US state of California in which Lake Piru is located. The rental boat that Rivera and her son were traveling in did not meet the necessary safety standards.

In the court documents that are available to "TMZ", it is said that the boat did not have an easily and safely accessible ladder, a suitable rope, an anchor or a radio. In addition, it would not have been equipped with a protective device to protect swimmers from being separated from their boat. Life-saving equipment would also have been missing. All of this is against California law.

Dorsey also claims that there were no warning signs pointing out the dangerous nature of the lake and that the lessor of the boat did not advise Rivera to put on the life jackets that were on board.

Rivera had rented the boat on July 8th to take her four-year-old son on a trip on Lake Piru in Ventura County, California. The little boy was later found sleeping on the boat. On July 13, Rivera's body was discovered by divers. The authorities confirmed that the 33-year-old drowned, so her death was an accident. Dorsey and Naya Rivera were married from 2014 to 2018.
